Use 3/8″ grommets for AQUAvalve5 and 3/8″ fittings.
Use 1/4″ for older, pre-October 2020 AQUAvalves with 1/4″ fittings.
Top Hat Grommets provide a water tight connection using 3/8″ or 1/4″ pipe with the 12.4 gal plastic reservoirs.
The Top Hat Grommet is positioned at the bottom of the reservoir. All AutoPot 12.4 gal plastic reservoirs are now supplied drilled and with 3/8″ Top Hat Grommets.
If fitting a 3/8″ grommet (for AQUAvalve5) to an existing/non-AutoPot plastic reservoir drill out to 1/2” diameter using a step drill.
If fitting a 1/4″ grommet (for older, pre Aug 2020 AQUAvalves) to an existing/non-AutoPot plastic reservoir drill out to 7/16” diameter.
The grommet is then inserted into the hole and a length of 3/8″ or 1/4″ pipe (according to the grommet used) is then pushed through the grommet. Push the pipe all the way through the grommet so that you can see the tube protruding inside the reservoir.
